Esta obra recoge un conjunto de 15 charlas de tema hispánico, dadas por el autor en la ciudad de Hamburgo, en el marco de la "Hamburger Volkshochschule", surgidas como respuesta a las preguntas formuladas por los mismos participantes. En ellas se tratan temas complejos e incluso polémicos de la realidad española, como los nacionalismos, las lenguas, el funcionamiento de la sociedad actual, junto a otros de tipo cultural. El conjunto introduce un amplio espectro de situaciones hispánicas, comentadas y reflexionadas ante un auditorio alemán.
