Marelys Valencia (Matanzas, 1970) es doctora en Literatura y Cultura Latinoamericanas. Su primer volumen de poesía, Piélago de sombras, fue finalista del Premio Poeta en Nueva York, convocado por Valparaíso Ediciones. Reside en los Estados Unidos y es profesora en Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame.
