How much importance do we give to the settings in which we live, sleep and relax when we go travelling? Nowadays travel usually means spending time in hotels, and these establishments have set about specializing in order to satisfy the varied needs of their guests. In this book we have sought to open a window on today's highly innovative hotels by showcasing some particularly attractive examples from all over the world. All the hotels that we have gathered together are united by a quest for up-to-date design aimed at providing a welcome for business travelers or tourists.

This series was the winner of the American Institute of Architects' prestigious "Award for Excellence in International Book Publishing". Each volume in this series is introduced with an essay on the architect, and a chronological or stylistic presentation of their most outstanding buildings and projects. No other series provides such a complete and concise summary of the world's leading architects' works. The volumes are fully illustrated in black-and-white with photos and project renderings.

The book analyses a selection of 10 houses and 14 buildings constructed in Costa Rica from 2000 to 2005 and that represent the current urban San Jose's growth trends. The domestic architecture reflects a higher purchasing power with an appreciation oh natural surroundings, the office and industrial buildings are aimed some at rescuing the historic downtown area while others were constructed in the suburban area of the city. Includes biographies of mentioned architects.

A través de la observación directa, el desarrollo de un cuestionario y la diagramación de las zonas de estancia preferentes, se ha obtenido una interesante documentación, que presenta el libro, que permite relacionar la experiencia de este grupo de usuarios en este contexto, con pautas de diseño para estos entornos y possibles nuevos productos que pueden favorecer la calidad de vida en estos lugares
