A man, his daughter, and their dog have an encounter in the park with a woman, her son, and their dog. Friendship develops between the dogs, and between the children, but the two adults ignore each other.

What secret of her mysterious past holds the Countess of Peñassola, whose enigmatic life joins Adelaida and Kayin, two children raised in different worlds? The Secret of the Countess of Peñassola is a lightweight novella, engineered and executed with nineteenth-century sensationalism. It recalls for us the serials and novels of that time. Friendship, love, poverty, and memory permeate the pages of this story, which reminds us of a spectrum of possibilities.
