No me da la vida

Autor: Lucía Be

Securing and Enforcing Judgments in Latin America

Autor: Lawrence W. Newman

Número de Páginas: 822

Securing and Enforcing Judgments in Latin America was originally published, under the editorship of Philip R. Weems, in 1987. Its purpose was, and continues to be, to serve as an aide to lawyers involved in transnational business matters, both in planning transactions and in formulating strategy for the prosecution or defense of claims crossing national borders. A primary objective of the book has always been to provide current and reliable sources of information on the enforcement of money judgments in various countries around the world. It has also been its intention that this information be provided by experienced international law firms from the countries whose laws are discussed and to convey the information by means of a uniform format, to permit easier comparison among jurisdictions.

Lorca: Mariana Pineda

Lorca: Mariana Pineda

Número de Páginas: 185

Mariana Pineda (1925) was Lorca's first success in the theatre. Based on a popular Andalusian ballad, it tells the story of Mariana Pineda who was garrotted in 1831 under the reactionary regime of Ferdinand VII for embroidering a Liberal flag and refusing to betray her lover. Written during the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the political message would not have escaped Lorca's audience. But the play is primarily the work of a poet and its appeal lies in the delicate tension that results from a deft blend of lyricism and drama which culminates in an astonishing level of spirituality in the final scenes when Mariana awaits her execution in a prison-convent. The characteristic themes of Lorca's tragedies - love, frustration, fate, freedom, death and womanhood - flourish within the play's appropriate and exquisite romantic mood. Spanish text with facing-page translation, introduction and commentary.

El amor brujo

El amor brujo

Autor: Manuel De Falla

Número de Páginas: 128

Although influenced by the impressionism of Debussy, Dukas, and Ravel, Manuel de Falla (1876–1946) remained distinctively Spanish, with roots that drew upon both Andalusian folk music and his country's classical traditions. With these two popular ballets, El Amor Brujo (Love, the Magician) and El Sombrero de Tres Picos (The Three-Cornered Hat), he brought the world's attention to the music of Spain. In El Amor Brujo, a gypsy lass is haunted by the ghost of a former swain until her new lover devises a plan to entice the spirit away. Each of the ballet's scenes evokes a different mood that is seamlessly woven into a brilliant musical tapestry. El Sombrero de Tres Picos recounts an elderly man's comic and frustrating attempts to seduce a miller's wife. Its premiere — produced by Diaghilev for the Ballets Russe, with choreography by Massine and designs by Picasso — met with an instant and lasting success. Falla himself made these arrangements of the complete ballets for piano solo. Several of the individual pieces have become standards in the solo piano repertoire, including "The Neighbour's Dance" and the great favorite, "Ritual Fire Dance."
